The no-fee Open Inclusion period has closed for 2016

Please contact the Business Manager for current inclusion fees outside of the Open Inclusion Period at 303-582-5768 or jhinderman@timberlinefire.com.

If you own property within or adjacent to the Timberline Fire Protection District boundaries that is not currently in a fire district, you are invited to be included into the Timberline District. We have changed to having annual open seasons for property inclusions to save costs for the district (month of February). Outside of the open season, we will be charging a $300.00 processing fee to be included into the district. We are encouraging property owners to take advantage of this open season.

If you are unsure of whether your property is in a fire district, there are several ways you can find out. Please see the Insurance/ISO tab to do a search for your property in either Gilpin or Boulder Counties. Fire districts show up as a separate line item on your property tax bill. If there is no line item, you are probably not in a fire district. You can also contact our administrative office or the county assessor office and they will be able to tell you. If you live within the city limits of Central City or the City of Black Hawk, you are covered by the municipal departments and are not eligible for inclusion into a fire district. If you are already in another fire district, you are not eligible to apply for inclusion into the Timberline District. Properties exist within the overall boundaries of the district that are not part of the district. We will attempt to notify as many of those property owners as possible directly by mail to ensure they are aware that they are not in the district.

While properties that are not in a fire district receive emergency services when they call 911, there are more benefits to being part of a fire district. There is little to no preplanning or preparedness done specifically for properties outside of the district. As an example, water supply is a big issue in our environment. Planning and preparedness for water supply is done based on the taxpayers of the district. Allocation of equipment and personnel during a major incident such as a wildfire is usually done based on protecting the properties within the district first. The district also has the ability to charge for emergency services provided to those that are not in a fire district.

Submitting an application for inclusion into the district does not guarantee that your property will be included into the district. We do not include properties that we do not have the capability to cover. Each property is evaluated on a case by case basis. If there are issues that can be corrected, we will notify you of these issues.

To apply for inclusion or get additional information, contact Jenifer Hinderman, Business Manager at 303-582-5768, in person or by mail at 660 Highway 46, Black Hawk, CO 80422 (next to the Gilpin County Justice Center), or by email at jhinderman@timberlinefire.com.
